1 - Remove the console block from the rear of the machine.
2 - Remove a serial port panel from the rear of the machine.
3 - Move blanking plate fro beside console block to where serial block
was removed from.
4 - Disconnect one D25 plug - the port opposite the ribbon connector is
easiest to work with. There are several tracks running down the right
hand side (looking at the PCB) from the top connector, three of which
come from the other side just under the top connector. Cut these.
(See the image link below, the cut is visible on the right of the
serial board)
5 - Remove the battery holder (3 screws) on the console block.
6 - On the back of the D9 console connector, solder together pins 8 and 9
7 - Connect 8 inch (or so) leads as follows:
D9 (console) D25 (RS232)
1 ------- 1
2 ------- 2
3 ------- 3
7 ------- 7
8 - Replace the battery holder, wrapping the wire around it near the bottom
screw (not the actual screw, the white plastic).
9 - Place the console and serial blocks back in the MV2.
A - Label the RS232 port 'CONSOLE'
This new port can now be connected to either a terminal or a PC running terminal emulator software. Turning on the MV2 should cause a message to be displayed within a second or so... The qbus is more like a train than a bus

If I wanted to install a full height card, then I could either move the disk controller from 5 to 6 and put the full card in 5, or install a Grant Continuity Card in 5(bottom) and put the larger card in 6.
